Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup semolina
  2. 2tbsp oil
  3. 1tsp mustard seeds
  4. 1/2 tsp urad dal
  5. Few curry leaves
  6. 2tbsp peanuts
  7. 2 green chillies
  8. 1 onion
  9. 2 tomatoes
  10. 1 carrot
  11. Pinch Turmeric powder
  12. 1/2 tsp salt
  13. 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  14. 2 tbsp ghee
  15. Coriander leaves for garnishing

Instructions

  1. Dry roast semolina till slightly fragrant and keep aside. This is done to avoid formation of lumps.
  2. In a pan take oil,add mustard seeds. When it splutters add half tsp urad dal and saute till slightly brown.
  3. Add curry leaves
  4. Add peanuts and saute till slightly crunchy
  5. Add chopped chillies
  6. Add chopped onion and saute till translucent
  7. Add chopped tomatoes and cook till soft and mushy
  8. Add chopped and cooked carrot pieces
  9. Add Turmeric powder,salt and garam masala powder. Saute for a while.
  10. Add 3 cups water and allow to boil. Give a nice stir.
  11. Add ghee.
  12. Add semolina slowly giving a nice stir so that lumps do not form.
  13. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves
  14. Cook covered with lid for 3 minutes so that water gets fully absorbed and semolina gets cooked.
  15. Serve hot
