Tiranga Zarda Shots

Ingredients to make Tiranga Zarda Shots

  • Basmati rice 100 gms
  • sugar 6-7 tbsp
  • 6 cardamoms
  • cinnamon powder 1 tsp
  • butter or ghee 4 tbsp
  • 2 colours resembling our flag - green and saffron
  • Nuts of your choice 1/2 cup

How to make Tiranga Zarda Shots

  1. Soak the rice for about 20 minutes. Cook and drain as usual. Keep aside.
  2. Divide the rice into 3 equal parts.
  3. Keep the white rice as it is, while adding the respective colours to the other 2 parts.
  4. Take the white part of the rice in a pan and add about 1 1/2 tbsp of ghee as well as sugar. Add in a pinch of cinnamon powder and 2 cardamom pods.
  5. Cover and cook for 5 minutes. Until the sugar melts and gives the rice a beautiful shine and glaze.
  6. Do the same process to the other 2 portions of rice.
  7. Assemble like our national tricolour flag in small shot glasses.

My Tip:

Cook the rice al dente.
