Ingredients to make Arabian Cake

  • 6 tbsp sugar
  • oil 2 tbsp
  • butter 2 tbsp, melted
  • all purpose flour 16 tbsp
  • 1 tbsp cornflour
  • 6 tbsp milk
  • 4 tbsp yogurt
  • 1 tsp level baking pwd
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp saffron
  • 1 tsp cardamom pwd
  • A pinch of salt
  • Handful of almonds chopped and lightly roasted for the topping
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds for the topping

How to make Arabian Cake

  1. Sift the flour, cornflour, baking powder and baking soda together.
  2. Mix in all the wet ingredients in a large bowl. Mix in the sugar.
  3. Mix the dry and wet ingredients together and whisk for just 10-15 seconds.
  4. Pour in a greased baking tin lined with parchment paper.
  5. Top with sesame and almonds.
  6. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degree centigrade for 35 minutes.
  7. Mix 2 tbsp honey with 1 tbsp melted butter, pour over the cake and bake again for 5 minutes.

Honey and butter mixed.
