Ingredients to make Tapioca Pearls/ Sagu de vinho

  • 1/2 cup soaked overnight in 1 cup of water
  • Red wine 1/4 cup
  • sugar 1/4 cup

How to make Tapioca Pearls/ Sagu de vinho

  1. Wash the tapioca seeds well in a strainer and soak them.
  2. Boil 2 cups of water in a pan, then add the tapioca seeds and boil it for 2 minutes.
  3. Turn off the flame and let the tapioca seeds sit in the hot water till they turn totally transparent in colour. Rinse with cold water to remove the gelatinous appearance.
  4. In a separate pan, boil the wine and sugar. When it reduces to half, add the tapioca seeds and boil it for 2 mins. Then let it cool.
  5. Pour in a serving dish and serve it cold with cream, ice cream or yogurt.

My Tip:

Red wine can be replaced by any non-alcoholic red wine, grape juice or any fruit juice.
