Besan Ka Halwa

Ingredients to make Besan Ka Halwa

  • besan 1/2 cup
  • sugar 1/2 cup
  • Ghee (clarified butter) 1/2 Cup
  • water 2 cups
  • cashewnuts and Almonds chopped a few
  • Roasted cashewnuts for garnishing
  • cardamom powder a pinch

How to make Besan Ka Halwa

  1. Add ghee in a heavy bottom pan and add the besan to it.
  2. Cook on low heat till the besan is slightly browned and a nice aroma starts coming from it. Add Cardamom powder.
  3. Add the sugar and cook for a minute.
  4. Add water and cook while stirring continuously.
  5. Cook till all the water has been absorbed by the besan.
  6. Garnish with chopped dry fruits like almonds and pistachios or cashewnuts.
  7. Always cook the besan on low heat and keep stirring continuously, otherwise besan can burn from the bottom. You can increase or decrease the amount of sugar as per your liking. Do not overcook the halwa, otherwise it will be very dry.
  8. Put roasted cashewnuts in ghee on top.

My Tip:

Put a pinch of powdered nutmeg at the time of serving. It will enhance the flavour.
