Baked whole wheat gujiya

Ingredients to make Baked whole wheat gujiya

  • Dry coconut greated 1 cup
  • Nuts (cashews, raisins, almonds, dried fruits) 2 tablespoon
  • sugar candy (Mishri) 2 tablespoon
  • sugar powder 2 table spoon or according to how sweet you want it
  • cardamom powder 1 tsp
  • Dry roasted saffron (Kesar) 1 pinch
  • Whole wheat flour 1 1/2 cup
  • Desi ghee 3 tablespoon
  • water to knead the dough
  • A pinch of salt

How to make Baked whole wheat gujiya

  1. Take flour in a moving bowl ad salt and ghee. Give it a nice mix. Make a soft dough using water. Keep aside for 10 minutes
  2. Add all the filing ingredients. If you are using fresh coconut then grate it and dry roast it completely. Let it cool completely before adding other ingredients.
  3. Now give a final knead to the dough. And roll out puri size. Stuff 1 teaspoon filling and apply little water on the sides and fold it in half and using a fork give a press on the side. This will give nice design on the sides and will help to stick it. You can even use gujiya sancha or fold it with hands too. Make all the gujiyas.
  4. On a baking tray place baking sheets and on that place All the gujiyas. Pre heat oven on 200 degree centigrade for 10 minutes. Place the tray in the oven and bake it on 160 degree centigrade for 10 minutes.
  5. Now set the grill option on top and grill it for 5 mins. Change the settings to grill on bottom and grill it for 5 minutes. This will give nice brown color on both the sides.
  6. Take it out and let it cool down completely. Store in a air tight container.
