Steamed Prawns

Ingredients to make Steamed Prawns

  • Prawns 300 grams
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • mustard seeds 2 tsp
  • poppy seeds 2 tsp
  • coconut 1/2 cup
  • green chilly 5
  • red chilly powder 1 tsp
  • sugar 1/2 tsp
  • mustard Oil 3 tsp
  • water as required for steaming pan

How to make Steamed Prawns

  1. Take the cleaned devined prawns in a bowl.
  2. Add Salt and turmeric powder, mix well and keep aside for 10 mins.
  3. Take mustard seeds, poppy seeds and coconut, 3 green chillies, salt to taste, little water and grind it to make a smooth paste.
  4. Add the paste to the prawns, remaining slit green chillies, chilly powder, sugar, mix well and marinate for another 15 mins.
  5. Now for steaming the prawns boil some water in a pan.
  6. Take a stainless steel container with lid and grease it with mustard oil.
  7. Add the prawns on it, pour the remaining oil on the top, close the lid and put it in the boiling water.
  8. Steam on medium heat for 20 mins.
  9. Turn off the heat, let the prawn stand in it for around 5 mins. Open the lid just before serving.
