Ingredients to make MOCHAI KOTTAI/FIELD BEANS KURMA

  • Mochai kottai/Field beans-1 1/2 cups
  • onions-2 numbers chopped
  • bay leaf-1 number
  • salt to taste
  • oil-2 teaspoons
  • for masala-
  • Grated coconut-1 cup
  • Daniya powder-3 teaspoons
  • turmeric powder-1/2 teaspoon
  • green chillies-8 numbers
  • onion -1 number
  • cinnamon-1 piece
  • ginger-1 inch piece
  • garlic-4 cloves
  • cloves-3
  • coriander leaves a handful

How to make MOCHAI KOTTAI/FIELD BEANS KURMA

  1. Soak the field beans over night.
  2. Remove the outer transparent cover on it (or you can use it as such with the outer transparent cover) drain the water and set the beans aside.
  3. Grind the ingredients given for masala to a fine paste set aside.
  4. Heat oil in a pressure cooker add bay leaf, saute the onions,pour the ground masala paste fry for a minute, next add the MOCHAI kottai add enough water and salt and cook it for 2 whistles.
  5. Release the pressure and allow it to boil for 2 minutes.check for salt.
  6. Garnish and serve hot with idli,dosa,chappati etc.
