Rajma Pulao

Ingredients to make Rajma Pulao

  • Basmati rice 500gm.
  • rajma/kidney beans about 250gm soaked overnight.
  • garlic mince a tbsp.
  • onions 2 large finely chopped.
  • salt to taste.
  • Bay leaves cinnamon and cardamom along with caraway seeds to be added in the rice when boiling.
  • ghee or oil about 3 to 4 tbsp
  • coriander and mint leaves a handful finely chopped.
  • cumin seeds a tsp
  • green chillies slit 3 to 4 or red chilli flakes a tbsp
  • Garam masala powder a tbsp.

How to make Rajma Pulao

  1. Boil the rice with the whole spices.
  2. Drain and keep aside.
  3. Pressure cook the rajma with little salt or just boil it taking care not to over do that.
  4. In a non stick pot, heat the oil or ghee, add the cumin seeds and bay leaves.
  5. Next add the onions and saute them nicely.
  6. Next add the masalas and the boiled rajma
  7. Add the rice and give it a good mix.
  8. Garnish with coriander and mint leaves.
  9. Serve hot with tawa chicken or any side dish of your choice.

My Tip:

You can very well make this even with left over rice.
