Fish Cakes

Ingredients to make Fish Cakes

  • 5 slices of King/sear fish (surmai)
  • 4 tbsp Dehydrated potato flakes
  • 3 tbsp Breadcrumbs
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1-1/2 tsp garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp lime juice
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Red chili powder
  • 1 tsp Green chili paste
  • 1/2 onion chopped
  • Handful of chopped coriander leaves
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • oil for shallow frying
  • Breadcrumbs as per need

How to make Fish Cakes

  1. Boil the fish with little water and turmeric powder. Discard any water remaining.
  2. Cool and separate bones from flesh.
  3. Mix the rest of the ingredients with the shredded fish till it binds well.
  4. Make equal sized balls. Press them to resemble flat discs. Roll them in breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat oil in a large flat nonstick pan/skillet. Shallow fry the fish cakes both sides till golden in color.

My Tip:

These can be frozen. Bring them to room temperature before frying.
