Basil Chicken

Ingredients to make Basil Chicken

  • 3 tbsp oil
  • 6 onions, finely chopped
  • 4 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2 Bird's eye chillies
  • 600 gms chicken breast, chopped into bite size pieces
  • 3 tbsp fish sauce
  • 2 Cups Basil Leaves, chopped
  • 2 tbsp Brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp Light Soya Sauce
  • 1 tsp chilli paste
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 tsp corn starch

How to make Basil Chicken

  1. Heat oil in a skillet. Then add in the onions and saute till it's translucent.
  2. Next, add in the garlic and chillies, let it cook for a minute. Now add in the chicken and cook till it's done.
  3. Add half of the basil leaves.
  4. In a bowl, combine the brown sugar, fish sauce, soya sauce, salt and chilli paste and add it to the chicken.
  5. Cook it for a minute. Then pour in the water and corn starch and cook for another minute.
  6. Add rest of the basil leaves and saute for a minute.
  7. Serve it with steamed rice.
