Bajra Khichadi

Ingredients to make Bajra Khichadi

  • bajra 1 cup
  • moong dal 1/2cup
  • peanuts
  • curry leaves
  • garlic
  • turmeric
  • Dried red chillies
  • hing
  • cumin seeds
  • mustard seeds
  • ghee

How to make Bajra Khichadi

  1. Soak bajra in water for 15-20 mins. Wash Moong dal and keep aside.
  2. Drain the water and Grind bajra in a mixer for jst 15-20 secs.
  3. Heat ghee in a cooker add curry leaves, mustard and cumin seeds and red chili and mashed garlic cloves. Fry till garlic turns golden brown and then add few peanuts.
  4. Add hing, turmeric powder.
  5. Add ground bajra and Moong dal. Add salt to taste and water (thrice the quantity to Moong dal and bajra together) close the lid and pressure cook for 2 whistles on low flame for 5minutes.
  6. Serve hot.

My Tip:

Add maximum quantity of water if required because as the khichadi cools it becomes very thick.
