Mango Shrikhand

Ingredients to make Mango Shrikhand

  • 2 - small mangoes
  • 1 cup - curd (hung)
  • 1 tbsp - sugar (as per taste)
  • 1/2 tsp - cardamom powder
  • 2 tsp - Pistachio silvers
  • Few strands of saffron

How to make Mango Shrikhand

  1. Blend mangoes to a puree. Take out two tsp puree and keep aside.
  2. To the left over puree in the mixer add hung curd, sugar and blend again.
  3. Add cardamom powder and 1 tsp pistachio slivers.
  4. Chill it and the Shrikhand is ready. Yes this is how an ordinary curd is converted into a delicacy.
  5. To Serve: In a bowl pour shrikhand, Top it with 2 tsps of mango puree. Garnish with pistachio slivers and saffron.
  6. You can add sugar depending upon the sweetness of mangoes . You can increase or decrease as it suits you.
  7. The origin of Shrikhand may be traced from Mahabharata where there are tales that Bhim invented this recipe and named it after Shri Krishna i.e. 'Shrikhanda'.

My Tip:

Always use fresh curd for making shrikhand . You can use homemade curd and hang it 4-5 hours. You can use dry fruits of your choice.
