Ingredients to make Amaranth Chocolate Cake Topped with Spiced Pear

  • 1 cup of whole wheat flour
  • ½ cup of amaranth flour
  • ¼ cup of cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1/2 cup of milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/3 cup of oil
  • 1 cup of coffee concoction (1 cup boiled water + ½ tablespoon coffee powder)
  • 3/4 cup of castor sugar (powdered sugar)
  • 1 tablespoon of vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract

How to make Amaranth Chocolate Cake Topped with Spiced Pear

  1. Preheat the oven at 180 degree C. Grease & line a 5 inch mould. In a bowl sift all the dry ingredients except sugar.
  2. In another bowl mix all the wet ingredients along with sugar. Now fold dry ingredients into the wet. Pour this mixture into a greased tin and bake for 25 to 30 minutes.
  3. Let it cool down at room temperature. At the time of serving, top with spiced pears & sauce.

My Tip:

You can use 1 cup sugar for a sweeter cake
