Classic Scottish Shortbread

Ingredients to make Classic Scottish Shortbread

  • 1 cup powdered oats
  • 1 1/2 cup cups flour
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar powdered
  • 1 cup butter, at room temperature
  • 1/4 tsp salt

How to make Classic Scottish Shortbread

  1. Powder the quick cooking oats and brown sugar separately.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add the oats, flour, sugar, salt and butter.
  3. Mix nicely to form a sticky dough.
  4. I used hand, you can use food processor also for the same
  5. Prepare an 8-inch cake pan, spread the dough in it, and press from the top using a flat spatula.
  6. Score the shortbread into 12 pieces, or as many you like.
  7. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 degree C for 35-40 mins until golden brown and firm.
  8. Let it cool down a bit, then cut all through the scores to make wedges.
  9. Enjoy with your hot cuppa tea/coffee .
