Methi Handvo (savoury cake)

Ingredients to make Methi Handvo (savoury cake)

  • besan 1 cup
  • Suji 1/4 cup
  • Whole wheat flour 1/4 cup
  • methi leaves 1 cup
  • salt to taste
  • sugar 1 tsp
  • red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • baking soda 1/2 tsp
  • oil 2 tsp
  • oil to grease
  • Rai 1 tsp
  • White sesame seeds 1 tsp
  • oil 1 tsp

How to make Methi Handvo (savoury cake)

  1. Take mixing bowl. Add besan, suji, flour, salt, chilli powder, methi leaves, sugar and oil. Add water to make a thick paste.(approximately 1 cup). Keep for ten minutes.
  2. Add soda and mix.
  3. Take a vessel. Grease it with oil and pour the batter.
  4. Steam for 25 minutes. Let it cool for 5 minutes.
  5. Take a tadka pan. Add oil, sesame seeds and rai. Cook and pour on handvo.
  6. Serve with chutney

My Tip:

Batter should not be watery. In case it happens add more besan.
