Instant Dalia Idli

Ingredients to make Instant Dalia Idli

  • Dalia - 2 cup
  • Sour curd - 1 cup
  • salt to taste
  • red chilli powder to taste
  • carrots - 2 grated
  • coriander leaves a handful
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • water as needed
  • For Tempering -
  • oil - 2 tbsp
  • mustard seeds - 1 tsp
  • urad dal - 1 tsp
  • haldi powder - 1 tsp

How to make Instant Dalia Idli

  1. Grind dalia in a grinder till it is powdered. It will not be like a fine powder but will be grainy. (no need to roast).
  2. Take it out in a bowl and mix salt. Mix well.
  3. Now add curd and mix well. Let it sit for 5 mins. Now add water to make a thick batter. The batter should not be too thick.
  4. Now add carrots and coriander leaves and mix well.
  5. Now heat oil in a pan. Add mustard seeds and let it sizzle for a min, add urad dal and let it sizzle. Add turmeric powder and red chilli powder and mix well.
  6. Mix this tempering with the idli batter. Add water if needed.
  7. Now add baking soda and mix well. Let it sit for 5 mins. Grease idli stand with oil. Pour a spoonful of batter in the idli stand and steam it for 10 min.
  8. After 10 mins let it sit in the steamer for 2 min. Now remove it from the steamer and let it cool for 5 mins.
  9. Serve with sambhar or chutney.
