Sambaram/Spicy Buttermilk

Ingredients to make Sambaram/Spicy Buttermilk

  • Curd/yogurt/thayru/thaak - 1/2 cup
  • ginger/adrak/inji/alae - 1/2 tbsp
  • curry leaves/kady patha/karivepila/karbhapathy - A handful
  • green chillies - 2
  • water- 1/2 cup
  • shallots/pearl onions- 3 -4
  • salt to taste

How to make Sambaram/Spicy Buttermilk

  1. Crush the ginger,shallots and green chilies with the help of a mortar and pestle.
  2. Beat the curd, water and salt together in a mixer jar, next add in all the crushed ingredients. Blend these ingredients well together.
  3. You can do a taste test. It should have the distinct spice of the ginger and chillies.
  4. Transfer it into serving khullads or glasses and serve instantly.

The curd should be diluted well by adding water generously.
