Ingredients to make Mutton biryani

  • Mutton 1Kg
  • rice 500 gms basmati. [Washed and drained]
  • onion sliced 3
  • Green chilies 2
  • coriander [a bunch]
  • mint leaves a handful
  • saffron dissolved in warm milk 1 cup
  • potatoes diced and fried
  • Fried onions - 1/2 cup
  • salt as per taste
  • tomato puree 2 tbsp
  • yogurt 1/2 cup
  • ghee 1/2 cup.
  • Haldi [turmeric powder] 1 tsp
  • Chili powder 1 tsp
  • Garam masala 2 tsp.

How to make Mutton biryani

  1. Parboil the rice with some salt and drain it
  2. In a pan add ghee add lavang, dalchini , elaychi add and fried sliced onion, green chilies and ginger garlic paste saute for few min
  3. Add mutton and fry. Add tomato puree and salt. Keep stirring
  4. Add dry spices haldi chilli powder dhania powder and garam masala. Stir in the yogurt and cook it covered for 20 25 min.
  5. Add the parboiled rice and layer it with fried potatoes. Mint leaves coriander leaves and fried onions..
  6. Add saffron milk and 50 gm ghee.
  7. Close the lid of the vessel and seal it with atta dough
  8. Cook on slow heat for 20 min.
  9. Serve with raita or mirch ka salan
