Methi Chicken

Ingredients to make Methi Chicken

  • 1 kg - chicken
  • 1 cup - yogurt
  • 3 tbsp - ginger garlic paste
  • 3 - onions finely chopped
  • 3 - tomatoes finely chopped
  • 2-3 - green chillies finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp - garam masala
  • 1 1/2 tsp - turmeric powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 2 tbsp - kasoori methi
  • 1 tsp - coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp - black pepper powder
  • salt to taste

How to make Methi Chicken

  1. Wash and clean the chicken and let it dry.
  2. Mix ginger garlic paste, yogurt, 1/2 tsp red chilli powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric and salt in a bowl.
  3. Rub the above mixture on the chicken pieces and mix well. Keep it in a refrigerator to marinate for 45 mins.
  4. Heat oil in a pan.Add chopped onions and fry till golden brown.
  5. Add all the spices and tomatoes and fry till the oil comes out of the masala (approx. 15 mins).
  6. Add chicken pieces and cook for 15 mins on medium flame in a covered vessel. Keep stirring in between.
  7. Add water and bring it to boil.Cook for another 15 mins on medium flame. Keep stirring in between.
  8. Methi chicken is ready to serve.
My Tip: If the chicken is little hard or has big pieces, it might take 10 more mins to cook. Check to see if the chicken has become tender.
