Whole wheat Methi Mathris

Ingredients to make Whole wheat Methi Mathris

  • Whole wheat flour - 1 cup
  • Besan or gram flour - 1/4 cup
  • Sooji or rawa - 1 tbsp
  • Ghee - 2 to 3 tbsp
  • Maida - 2 tbsp (optional)
  • Kasuri methi - 2 tbsp
  • Garlic grated - 1/2 tsp (or more as per taste)
  • Jeera - 1/2 tsp
  • Sugar - 1/2 tsp
  • Red chili powder - 1/2 tsp
  • A pinch of Ajwain (optional)
  • Water as required
  • Oil for frying
  • Salt to taste

How to make Whole wheat Methi Mathris

  1. Take a bowl and mix the wheat flour, besan, sooji , maida and salt.
  2. Now add in the other ingredients except water and mix well.
  3. Add water to form a semi stiff dough. Cover with a kitchen towel and keep aside for 10 minutes.
  4. Now, roll out a big roti (not too thick nor thin) and then prick with a fork throughout.
  5. Now using a cookie cutter, cut out the small shapes.
  6. Start frying by adding one by one and adjusting the flame from high to medium till they are done well.
  7. Remove and keep on a kitchen paper and let it cool.
  8. Your whole wheat tasty methi mathris are ready.

My Tip:

Another way is to bake these mathris. Preheat the oven at 180 degree celsius and keep the mathris in a baking tray and brush little oil and bake them for 20 minutes approximately.
