Colourful Idli

Ingredients to make Colourful Idli

  • Suji 1 cup
  • curd 1 cup
  • Mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
  • curry leaves 7 - 8
  • salt 1 teaspoon
  • oil 1 tablespoon
  • Grated carrot 1/2 cup
  • Grated beetroot 1/2 cup
  • Eno 1/2 teaspoon

How to make Colourful Idli

  1. First mix suji with curd till lump free and keep aside for half an hour.
  2. Suji mixture should be of pouring consistency
  3. Now take oil in a pan and heat it.
  4. Now add mustard seeds and curry leaves into the hot oil.
  5. As soon as mustard seeds crackle switch off the flame.
  6. Now add this oil in suji mixture.
  7. Now add salt, grated carrot and beetroot in suji mixture.
  8. Mix this suji mixture nicely. It will become light pink in colour. At last add eno.
  9. Now grease idli moulds with oil and quickly pour suji mixture in each mould till 2/3 of space.
  10. Now steam idlies in microwave for 3 minutes.
  11. After 3 minutes demould idlies and enjoy hot with sauce or chutney of your choice .

My Tip:

Any vegetable can be added in suji but by adding beetroot and carrot idli becomes pink in colour, which attracts kids.
