Grilled Tofu with vegetables

Ingredients to make Grilled Tofu with vegetables

  • Tofu (suitable for grilling) 200grams
  • Soya sauce 2 tablespoons
  • Green or red chilly sauce 1 tablespoons
  • Blood orange vinegar (optional) 1 tbsp
  • Or lemon juice 1 tablespoon
  • Orange juice 2 cups
  • Orange rind 1 tablespoon
  • Corn flour 1 tablespoons
  • Water 3 tablespoons
  • Salt
  • Orange slices for dressing
  • Honey or agave nectar 1 1/2 tablespoon
  • Pepper powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves
  • Sesame oil to grill
  • Mixed vegetables (carrot, bean sprouts, bell peppers, cabbage and onion, blanched greens of choice (salted and drained))

How to make Grilled Tofu with vegetables

  1. Heat a saucepan
  2. Add orange juice
  3. Bring to a gentle boil
  4. Mix corn flour with the water till it dissolves.
  5. Add to orange juice mixture.
  6. Stir till slightly thick
  7. Remove and cool
  8. Take a bowl, add orange runs, the sauces, salt and pepper, honey, vinegar if adding.
  9. Whisk till well blended.
  10. Add to the cold orange mixture.
  11. Add vinegar, if using or adjust sourness with lemon juice
  12. Blend well.
  13. Slice tofu to desired size
  14. Marinate in the above mixture for 15 minutes
  15. Heat a grill pan
  16. Pour 3-4 tbsp of sesame oil
  17. Place the tofu and grill
  18. Do not allow to stick to the pan
  19. Add oil if necessary
  20. Grill till slightly brown and lines appear
  21. Place the other side of tofu and grill in such a way that cross cross lines appear
  22. Remove, pour the remaining sauce in top.
  23. Dress with orange slices and coriander
  24. Serve with the raw vegetables on the side.
My Tip: If tofu specifically suitable for grilling is not available, any firm tofu ( firm silken tofu) which will hold its shape after grilling can be used.
