Hyderabadi Osmania Biscuit

Ingredients to make Hyderabadi Osmania Biscuit

  • Butter- 120 gms
  • Sugar powder- 80 gms
  • Milk- 2 Tbsp
  • Salt- 1 pinch
  • Maida- 200 gms
  • Custard powder heapful- 2Tbsp
  • Milk powder heapful- 2 Tbsp
  • Cardamom powder- 1/2 tspn
  • Baking powder- 1/4 teaspoon
  • For the Milk Wash.......Saffron gms + Warm milk 1/4 cup

How to make Hyderabadi Osmania Biscuit

  1. Preheat oven to 180C. Mix the warm milk and saffron and keep aside.
  2. Sieve together maida, salt, custard powder, milk powder, cardamom powder, baking powder and keep aside.
  3. Beat butter and sugar till creamy. Add milk and mix well.
  4. Add the flour and mix well to form a soft crumbly dough. Note just bring all the ingredients together do not knead this dough.
  5. Cover with a clingwrap and place in the refrigerator for the dough to firm up.
  6. Roll the dough into a thin sheet and cut them into round shape and arrange the biscuits in the tray, and pour the saffron mixture on top of this, coat the biscuits well with this milk and remove the excess milk in the cup again and bake the

My Tip:

For COOKER......Preheat your cooker with salt on high flame for 5 mins, then lower the flame and keep yr biscuit tray in the cooker put on lid without whistle and check after 15 mins, if u see the change in colour then remove, if it needs more time give it an extra 4 to 5 mins. You will have to eyeball this process as everyone's gas flame is different.
