South Indian style buttermilk

Ingredients to make South Indian style buttermilk

  • curd 750 ml
  • water 750 ml
  • ginger 1 inch piece
  • green chillies 2
  • curry leaves 2 sprigs
  • asafoetida 1/2 -1 tsp
  • coriander - a handful
  • Black/ normal salt to taste

How to make South Indian style buttermilk

  1. In a blender jar add the chillies, asafoetida, curry leaves, ginger and coriander
  2. Add in few tbsp of curd just enough to blend into a smooth paste
  3. Blend into a smooth mixture
  4. Strain the mixture into a huge vessel
  5. Blend the remaining curd until lump free and pour into the vessel
  6. Add water into the same blender to clean it of any curd and add into the vessel
  7. Add in to black salt
  8. Mix well and serve chilled

My Tip:

Use chillies to taste
