Ingredients to make Fish paturi

  • Bengal Bhatki boneless fillet 4"x2"x1/2" 6 pieces or Basa fillet
  • Mustard paste with 2 green chilli 1 cup
  • Coconut grated and then finely pasted 1 cup
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 tea spoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Mustard oil 6 tablespoon
  • Lemon juice 6 teaspoon
  • Banana leaf as per requirement
  • Thread
  • Green chilli slited 6
  • Onions sliced and fried till brown 1 cup

How to make Fish paturi

  1. First marinade the fillets with turmeric powder, salt and lemon juice for 2 hours.
  2. Then mix the mustard paste, coconut paste, salt, mustard oil and the caramelized onions.
  3. Add fish pieces into this mixture and again marinade for 1 hour.
  4. Now take the banana leaves.
  5. Cut them into square shapes. Then must be 3-4 times bigger than the fillets.
  6. Dry roast the leaves on gas oven 10 seconds for each side.
  7. This will help to handle the leaves easily.
  8. Now take one fish fillet. Put it on a banana leaf. Put one green chili on it.
  9. Fold it to wrap the fish completely from all sides.
  10. With a thread bind the envelopes.
  11. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a non-stick tawa.
  12. Arrange the envelopes and roast them on Tawa for 10-15 minutes each side.
  13. Your fish paturi is ready!!
My Tip: Enjoy Bhatki fish paturi with steamed rice.
