Traditional Bengali dish , it is served in marriages in my hometown along with hot white rice and dal, also it can be served as snacks along with hot chai and puffed rice

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. Pumpkin 100 gms , cut in thin slices
  2. Turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  3. Gram flour 1/2 cup
  4. Rice flour 2 Tbsp
  5. Corn flour 1/2 cup
  6. Water 150 ml or as required
  7. Salt as required
  8. Nijella seeds 1 tsp
  9. White sesame seeds 1 tsp
  10. Chilli Powder 1/2 tsp
  11. Black pepper powder 1/4 tsp
  12. Hing 1/4 tsp
  13. Oil for shallow frying

Instructions

  1. Wash and cut pumpkin in thin slices , otherwise they will not be crispy
  2. Now in a big bowl add besan , corn flour , rice flour , salt , hing Nigella seeds , sesame seeds , chilli powder , mix water slowly
  3. The mixture will be thick , see pic
  4. Now dip the pumpkin pieces
  5. Heat oil in a kadai , when hot enough fry pumpkin pieces in batches
  6. Fry both sides until red and crispy
  7. Serve hot with rice as a side dish or with puffed rice and hot tea as a snack
