Ingredients to make Ulli /onion white chutney

  • Onion - 4 medium
  • Green chillies - 5
  • Curry leaves - 1 Spring
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
  • urad dal - 1 tsp
  • Tamarind - 1 marble sized ball
  • Salt to taste
  • oil

How to make Ulli /onion white chutney

  1. Chop the onion into thin slices
  2. Add 2 tsps of oil to a pan and start the tempering
  3. Add the cumin then the Urad dal
  4. As it browns add the broken green chillies
  5. Saute for a while then add the onions
  6. Add the curry leaves
  7. Add the tamarind ball and saute
  8. Now keep sautéing till all the onions are evenly browned in low or medium heat
  9. Now cool it and grind to a smooth and soft paste with minimum water
  10. Ready to it.
