Ingredients to make Onion chicken

  • Chicken 500 grams
  • Onion 500 grams
  • Mustard oil 4 tablespoons
  • Turmeric powder half teaspoon
  • Coriander powder 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala 2 teaspoons
  • Cinnamon 1 inch
  • Bay leaf 1
  • Black pepper 5
  • Cloves 5
  • Salt as per your taste
  • Hot water 1 cup

How to make Onion chicken

  1. In a big bowl take the chicken and add lemon juice,turmeric powder garam masala,coriander powder and salt and marinate for an hour
  2. Heat oil in a pan and add bay leaf,Cinnamon, cloves and black pepper
  3. Cut the onions into julliens and add to the pan Add some salt and let the onions cook till soft
  4. When the onions become soft and a little pale in colour add the marinated chicken
  5. Mix thoroughly and cover the pan with a lid and let it cook till the chicken is soft
  6. Serve hot

My Tip:

Do not over cook the onions they should be soft but not mushy
