ABOUT Makhane ki Kheer - Lotus Seeds Pudding RECIPE

Makhana that is lotus seeds is very good for health...in itself it does not have any taste but its pudding is super tasty...

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 75 grams lotus seeds
  2. 1 litre full fat milk
  3. Pinch of saffron
  4. 1/4 teaspoon green cardamom powder
  5. 3 tablespoon chopped nuts
  6. 100 grams Sugar
  7. 3 tablespoon clarifed butter

Instructions

  1. Heat up a wok, add the clarified butter into it. Add the makhana and roast for 4-5 minutes on low to medium heat. It should turn crispy. Boil milk in another saucepan.
  2. Once the makhana is nicely roasted, add the boiling milk into it, add pinch of saffron and let it simmer for 3-4 minutes till the makhanas become soft.
  3. With the help of spatula roughly mash the makhanas on the sides of the wok so that they break into smaller pieces. Soon you will see the milk too becomes thick and then let it cook till you get desired consistency.
  4. Add the sugar, cook for 2-3 minutes till the sugar should dissolves completely. Add the cardamom powder and the chopped nuts.
  5. Delicious makhana kheer is ready to serve. Garnish with chopped nuts while serving.
