ABOUT Crab Masala Gravy RECIPE

Crab masala gravy is a popular sea food dish. Eating carb is time consuming but its worth it. Many people relish crab dishes and crab masala gravy is one such dish. It is also one of my favourite dishes.

Ingredients Serving: 7

  1. 1½ kilogram crabs, clean and cut into 2 pieces (each crab) separate the claws
  2. 4 tablespoon vegetable oil
  3. 2 small tomatoes
  4. 1 onion finely sliced
  5. 1 onion finely chopped
  6. for masala:1/2 cup dry coconut grated
  7. 5 garlic cloves
  8. 1 inch ginger
  9. 1 teaspoon turmeric
  10. 10 red chillies dry
  11. 10 pepper seeds
  12. 5 cloves
  13. 1 cardamon
  14. 1 cinnamon stick
  15. 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  16. 2 tablespoon coriander seeds
  17. 1 bay leaf
  18. salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon oil and add only the sliced onion, dry grated coconut, 5 garlic cloves,1 inch ginger, 10 red chilies dry, 10 pepper seeds, 5 cloves, 1 cardamom, 1 cinnamon stick, 1 teaspoon cumin seeds, 2 teaspoon coriander seeds and roast til brown.
  2. Then grind all the roasted ingredients along with 2 chopped tomatoes in a blender.
  3. In a pan add remaining 3 tablespoon oil and 1 finely chopped onion, 1 bay leaf and cook till it turns golden brown.
  4. To the pan add the mixture from the blender and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  5. Add 1 teaspoon turmeric powder and salt as per taste.
  6. Then add all the crab pieces and add half cup of water.
  7. Place the lid and cook the crab masala on low flame.
  8. Serve hot with steamed rice or with wheat/rice bhakri.
