Kheer is a traditional Indian dessert usually made during any festive season...soo creamy and luscious.

Ingredients to make Kheer

  • 1 litre full cream milk
  • 200g sugar
  • 7-8 almonds chopped
  • 10-12 raisins
  • 1 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 1/2 cup rice
  • 1 cup water
  • saffron strands(optional)
  • pistachios (shelled and chopped) for garnishing

How to make Kheer

  1. Soak rice in water for half an hour.Boil the rice in the same water till it is cooked and the water gets evaporated.
  2. Heat milk in a heavy bottom deep pan,add rice and simmer on slow fire for about 1 1/2 hour.
  3. Stir the mixture frequently and when it become creamy in texture add sugar and cardamom powder and stir till it gets completely dissolved.
  4. Cook for sometime and then remove from fire and add Almonds and raisins to it.
  5. Garnish with some green cardamoms, pistachios or kesar and serve hot or chilled.
