Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Chopped bottle gourd 1cup
  2. Grated Coconut 1/4 cup
  3. Salt 1/2 tea spoon
  4. Water 25 ml/ 1/4 cup
  5. Sprig Malacca powder 1 tea spoon
  6. For seasoning... cooking oil 1 tea spoon
  7. Broken red chilly 1
  8. Mustard seeds 1/2 tea spoon
  9. Split black gram lentils 1/2 tea spoon
  10. Curry leaves few
  11. Turmeric powder 1/4 tea spoon

Instructions

  1. Cut bottle gourd vertically into half, peal the skin and chop into thin pieces.
  2. Heat a pan,add oil. When oil starts heat add red chilly and mustard seeds. Let the mustard seeds splutter.
  3. Now add split black gram lentils,let it turn little brown then add curry leaves.
  4. Now add chopped bottle gourd pieces, stir well for a while.
  5. Add salt and turmeric powder.
  6. Add 25 ml of water,again stir well.
  7. Add sprig Malacca powder a tea spoon for good flavor.
  8. Cook it covered till the veggies are soft. Keep stirring in between. For this I took only 4 minutes in medium flame.
  9. When the water is evaporated completely add grated coconut and mix well.
  10. Serve along rice or chapathi.
