Mac and Cheese

Ingredients to make Mac and Cheese

  • Pasta- 4 cups (any shape)
  • Milk- 1 1/2 cups
  • Plain flour- 2 tbsp
  • Shredded Cheddar cheese- 1 cup
  • Shredded mozarella cheese- 1 cup
  • Powdered mustard- 1/2 tsp
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Butter- 2 tbsp
  • Breadcrumbs- 1/4 cup

How to make Mac and Cheese

  1. Cooking the pasta- Bring about 4-5 cups of water to a rolling boil in a large pan, add the pasta with a tablespoon of salt.Cook the pasta till done, about 10 minutes. Drain and keep aside.
  2. In another pan, heat half the Milk over medium heat. Whisk the flour into the remaining Milk and add in a steady stream to the hot Milk, whisking continuously, till the Milk is thick.
  3. Lower heat and add cheddar cheese,mozarella cheese, mustard and pepper to the thick milk.
  4. Preheat oven at 200 deg C and grease a casserole dish.
  5. Combine the pasta and the cheese sauce and layer onto the casserole dish.
  6. Dot top with butter and breadcrumbs.
  7. Bake for 15-20 minutes till breadcrumbs are golden and sauce is bubbly.
