Rajma masala

Ingredients to make Rajma masala

  • 1 cup Rajma
  • 1 medium sized onion
  • 2 tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger-Garlic paste
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 Cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon kasturi methi
  • 2 green chilies
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin coriander powder
  • 1 tablespoon garam masala
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

How to make Rajma masala

  1. Soak the rajma over night in enough water.
  2. Pressure cook this rajma with salt for 5 whistles.
  3. Finely chop the onions and keep it aside.
  4. Puree the tomatoes and green chilies and keep aside.
  5. Heat 2 table spoon oil. Add cumin seeds and cinnamon.
  6. Then add ginger-garlic paste and onions. Saute till the onions turn pinkish brown, then add a little water.
  7. Next, add tomato puree and saute it at low flame.
  8. Once the oil starts coming out from the sides, add in the kasturi methi.
  9. Add the turmeric powder, red chili powder and cumin, coriander powder and let it cook on a low flame.
  10. Add the rajma and let it cook for 5 minutes, then pour in the rajma water.
  11. Lastly add the garam masala and check the salt.
  12. Switch off the flame and sprinkle coriander leaves on top.
  13. Serve alongside rice for best taste.
