These cheesy potatoes dish is simple to cook and tastes excellent when paired with meat dishes.

Potatoes Au Gratin

Ingredients to make Potatoes Au Gratin

  • 3 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 6 medium sized potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 medium sized onions, finely chopped
  • 113 grams cheddar cheese
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 500 ml milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1and 1/2 teaspoon salt

How to make Potatoes Au Gratin

  1. Preheat the oven to 176° celsius.
  2. Take a pan and melt the butter in it. Once the butter is melted properly, put in the flour, salt and pepper and stir it well. Gradually pour in the milk and continue stirring.
  3. Bring this mixture to a boil, then stir and cook for 2-3 minutes till it has thickened. Then remove it from the heat and put in the cheese, stir well so that it is melted well. Then add the potatoes and onion together and cook for 1-2 mins.
  4. Transfer this to a greased 2-qt. baking dish. Cover the dish and bake for 1 hour. Then uncover it and bake for another 30-40 minutes till the potatoes are tender.
  5. Serve this warm for best taste.
