Ingredients to make Corn candies

  • Boiled American corn- 1 and 1/ 2 cup
  • Boiled and mashed potatoes- 2
  • ginger-garlic paste- 1 tsp
  • green chillies to taste
  • turmeric powder 1/ 4 tsp
  • Aamchur/ chaat masala- 1/ 4 tsp
  • Zeera- 1/2 tsp
  • Roasted Suji- 3 tsp
  • dhania powder- 1/ 4 tsp
  • A pinch of sugar (optional)
  • Fresh coriander leaves, finely chopped
  • Bread/ toast crumbs- 1/ 2 cup
  • salt to taste

How to make Corn candies

  1. Boil the corn in the pressure cooker till 1 whistle blows. Let it cool down, then shell it after cooling.
  2. In a mixer jar, put in the corn, green chillies, and zeera. Grind it coarsely to form a paste. Transfer this into bowl.
  3. Next, add the ginger-garlic paste, sugar, suji, chillies, dhania powder, potatoes, coriander leaves and salt into the bowl and mix it all together.
  4. Next add in the bread crumbs and mix well. Make oval patties from this mixture.
  5. Coat these patties with bread crumbs again and deep fry them on a high flame then reduce the heat gradually till it becomes golden brown in colour.
  6. Serve hot with green chutney/tomato sauce or mayonnaise.

My Tip:

Dip these candy sticks in water for some time to absorb less oil. This also prevents the burning of candy sticks.
