Fish Cakes

Ingredients to make Fish Cakes

  • Boiled potatoes 100 gms
  • Fish 200 gms
  • Spring onion with lot of green1 cup
  • Galic cloves grated 3
  • Bay leaves 2
  • Salt 1 tsp
  • Pepper1/4 tsp
  • Ground Mustard 1 tsp
  • Lemon zest 1/4 tsp
  • Fresh bread crumbs 3/4 cup
  • Beaten egg 1
  • Paprika powder 1 tsp

How to make Fish Cakes

  1. Put Fish in in a pan with water and bay leaves. Close the lid and bring to a boil.
  2. When water starts boiling, turn off the flame and keep it covered for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove the skin and bones from fish and coarsly mash it.
  4. Mix potatoes, fish, spring onion, garlic, pepper, mustard, lemon zest, salt and pepper.
  5. Divide the fish cake mixture into 4. Make round cakes.
  6. Dip each cake first in egg and then roll it well in bread crumbs .
  7. Keep in fridge for 30 minutes. Grease a baking dish, keep cakes on it and drizzle with 1 tsp of oil.
  8. Bake the fish cake at 220 degree centigrade for 30 minutes till nice and crisp.
  9. Serve with salad/Salsa/chutney.
