Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Seeraga samba rice : 1 cup
  2. Moong dal : 1/2 cup
  3. Pepper Corn : 1/2 tsp
  4. Cumin seeds : 1/2 tsp
  5. Mustard seeds : 1/2 tsp
  6. Curry leaves
  7. salt
  8. Ghee : 3 tsp
  9. Ginger grated : 1 inch
  10. Cashew : 6 - 8

Instructions

  1. Pre - heat a pan, and add moong dal saute for 2 - 3 min over medium flame and keep aside.
  2. Wash the rice and dal
  3. In a pressure cooker add rice , dal, salt  and 4 1/2 cup water and cook for 15 - 20 min over medium flame.
  4. Heat 3 tbs Ghee and add mustard seeds, cumin seeds. Let them crackle for a minute and add curry  leaves, pepper corn, cashews, grated ginger and saute for 1 minute.
  5. Add the above mixture to pongal (cooked rice + dal) and mix well
  6. Serve with coconut chutney / sambar
