Ingredients to make Golap/Rose pithe

  • For the Dough :
  • Maida/refined flour - 1 cup
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Salt - 1/2 tsp
  • Oil - 1-2 tsp
  • For sugar syrup
  • Water - 1 cup
  • Sugar - 1 cup

How to make Golap/Rose pithe

  1. Heat karai, add 1 cup water and 1/2 tsp salt, bring to boil . When it starts boiling, add 1 cup Maida, stir continuously until it form a big lump. Turn off gas and take out from karai, keep it in a bowl. Cover it and let it cool.
  2. When the Maida lump enough warm to touch . Add 1-2 tsp oil, knead a soft smooth dough. Cover it for 15-20 mins.
  3. Meanwhile take water and sugar, make a thick-two thread sugar syrup.
  4. Take small portion of dough, roll it like a roti. Cut 3 round shape like small puris with the help of cookie cutter or any sharp edge bowl of glass. Place three puri on top of one another.
  5. Take a pinch of dough and put it in the centre of small puris. (It's called bud). Make three cuts around the bud.Three cuts represents a letter Y. Now you get three bunches of triangle. (Each triangle represents each petal of rose pitha?.
  6. Fold each triangle around the bud one after another. After completion the folding of triangles. You will get full bloomed rose pithe.
  7. Heat karai, add enough oil for deep frying. Place gola pithe into the hot oil. Oil should be on low medium heat and fry until gets golden brown colour.Take out from karai, drain oil properly.
  8. Place golap pithe into the sugar syrup.mix it well to sugar syrup quickly. Place golap pithe on the plate. You can store it fews days.
