Chicken Malvani

Ingredients to make Chicken Malvani

  • Chicken (cut into medium pieces)-500 grams
  • Salt to taste
  • Ginger Paste - 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic Paste-3 tablespoons
  • Cumin seeds-1 teaspoon
  • Cloves-5
  • Green Cardamom -4
  • Black Cardamom -2
  • Black pepper corn -5
  • Poppy seeds -1 teaspoon
  • Dried coconut-1/4 cup(if you do not have dried coconut,then can use fresh coconut also)
  • Dried red chillies -5 broken
  • Coriander seeds-2 teaspoons
  • Oil-1/4 cup
  • Onions sliced -2
  • Turmeric powder-1/2teaspoon

How to make Chicken Malvani

  1. Mix chicken with salt, ginger, garlic paste, 2 teaspoon oil and keep in refrigerator for 1/2 hour.
  2. Dry roast cumin seeds, cloves,green cardamom, black cardamom, black peppercorns, poppy seeds,dried coconut,red chillies and coriander seeds till fragrant. Cool and grind to make a fine powder.
  3. Heat remaining oil in a deep non -stick pan.Add onions and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Add turmeric powder and salt and mix.
  5. Add marinated chicken and remaining marination masala. Cook until oil gets separated.
  6. Add 2 cups of water, bring it to boil, when the water will start boiling, simmer the gas and cook. till the chicken is done.
  7. Serve hot with steamed rice.
My Tip: Malvani cuisine is very spicy so I added dry red chillies,if you do not want spicy,add Kashmiri red chilli powder.
