About Udupi Rasam Recipe

Udupi rasam is famous and tasty. It is very good piping with plain rice and papad.

Udupi Rasam

Ingredients to make Udupi Rasam

  • Toor dal 1 cup
  • Chopped tomato 2 cup
  • Gooseberry sized tamarind
  • salt to taste
  • jaggery 1 gooseberry sized
  • ginger 1 inch
  • Udupi rasam powder 2 tsp
  • turmeric powder 1/4 tsp
  • Cooking oil 1 tsp
  • mustard seeds 1 tsp
  • red chilli 1
  • curry leaves few
  • asafoetida a pinch

How to make Udupi Rasam

  1. WASH AND FINELY COOK TOOR DAL
  2. SALT
  3. ADD CHOPPED TOMATOES, SUFFICIENT WATER, CLOSE AND COOK
  4. IN THE MEANTIME DO SEASONING OF COOKING OIL, MUSTARD SEEDS, RED CHILLI, CURRY LEAVES AND ASAFOETIDA
  5. CHECK THE COOKNESS, ADD UDUPI RASAM POWDER
  6. TAMARIND SQUEEZED WATER
  7. JAGGERY, GINGER
  8. WHEN IT IS COMPLETELY BOILING ADD TURMERIC POWDER
  9. CHECK THE BOILING, IF IT IS BOILING IN MIDDLE, WE CONSIDER THAT SALTINESS IS CORRECT
  10. ADD SEASONING, TURN OFF THE FLAME AND SERVE
