ABOUT Methi Paratha RECIPE

This recipe has been adapted from our Tamil chechi.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup whole wheat flour
  2. 1/2 cup methi/fenugreek leaves (washed and dried)
  3. 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  4. 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
  5. 1/4 teaspoon red chilli powder
  6. 1 tablespoon oil
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Ghee or butter to apply on the parathas

Instructions

  1. Take a large bowl and mix together the ingredients, flour, fenugreek leaves, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, oil and salt.
  2. Next put in a couple of tablespoons of water and knead to form a smooth dough.
  3. Store this aside for 15-20 minutes.
  4. After this time period, take the dough and divide it into small equal sized balls.
  5. Roll out each ball and fry on a tawa/griddle until both sides turn golden brown.
  6. Make sure to apply ghee/butter on both sides of the paratha after removing it from the heat.
  7. Serve with homemade pickles or chilled yogurt.
