About Prawn Masala curry. Recipe

Prawns with roasted coconut gravy . A good sidedish for plain rice.

Prawn Masala curry.

Ingredients to make Prawn Masala curry.

  • Prawns 2 to 3 cups
  • tamarind pulp 2 tbsp
  • turmeric
  • salt
  • To roast,
  • coconut oil 1 tbsp
  • Grated coconut 1 1/2 cups
  • coriander powder 1 tsp
  • red chillies 8
  • red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  • Small onion 10
  • For seasoning ,
  • Small onion 8 chopped
  • coconut oil 2 tbsp
  • curry leaves

How to make Prawn Masala curry.

  1. Take a pan & heat oil. Add coconut,red chillies & small onion. Fry well till coconut turns golden brown. Then add coriander powder & chilli powder. Stir on low flame for a few seconds. Remove .
  2. When cold, grind to a fine paste.
  3. Take a big kadai. Add turmeric , tamarind , salt,& 2 cups of water to the prawns. Cook prawns till half cooked.
  4. Then add ground Masala. Add some more water if needed. Cook till prawns r well cooked.
  5. Curry should be in pouring consistency.
  6. Heat oil in a small kadai. Put chopped onion & curry leaves. Fry well & add to the curry.
  7. Serve hot with rice.

My Tip:

With this same recipe we can use potatoes.
