Ingredients to make Onion Pakodas

  • 4 medium sized onions (thinly sliced)
  • 2 tablespoon rice flour
  • 1/2 cup gram flour (besan)
  • A pinch of baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon fennel seeds (powdered)
  • 1/2 teaspoon chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 3-4 stalks of curry leaves
  • Oil for frying

How to make Onion Pakodas

  1. Take a bowl and stir together the ingredients, rice flour, gram flour, baking soda, fennel seed powder, chilli powder and salt.
  2. Next add the sliced onions to this mixture and blend it well together.
  3. Take a pan and heat oil to a medium flame. Deep fry the onion mixture in small batches.
  4. Once you are done, fry the curry leaves and mix them with the fried onions.
  5. Serve these crispy pakodas immediately paired with a cup of tea to enjoy it at its best.

My Tip:

You may add a couple teaspoons of oil to the onion mixture, if you feel that the flour does not stick to the onions.
