Delicious varutharaicha style fish curry.

Lady fish curry

Ingredients to make Lady fish curry

  • lady fish medium size - 8-12
  • oil - 3 tbsp
  • mustard, fenugreek &fennel - each 1/2 tsp
  • garlic cloves - 6
  • chopped onion - 1
  • chopped tomato -1
  • green chilli - 2
  • soaked tamarind - lemon size
  • coriander and curry leaves - few
  • salt - to taste.
  • roast and grind :-
  • half onion and half tomato
  • grated coconut - 3 tbsp
  • red chilli powder - 1 and half tsp
  • coriander powder - 2 tsp
  • turmeric powder, cumin powder, pepper powder - each 1/4 tsp

How to make Lady fish curry

  1. Clean fish and wash thoroughly and keep aside.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp oil, saute chopped onion and tomato, add all masalas and grated coconut, saute well.Cool and grind it to fine paste.
  3. In a bowl add soaked tamarind extarct one cup and transfer the ground paste, mix well and add salt to taste.
  4. Heat 2 tbsp oil in satti or vessel, add mustard, fenugreek and fennel seeds,add curry leaves when it pops, add chopped ,onion, tomato and garlic cloves. Add little salt and allow it cook for 3 minutes in a medium flame,.
  5. Then add the ground masala mix tamarind juice, and a cup of water.Mix well and allow it boil for 5 -10 minutes.
  6. Then add cleaned fish and cook for 5 -7 minutes in a medium low flame.Add chopped coriander leaves. Switch off.
  7. Serve with hot plain rice.

My Tip:

Tastes good if cooked in mud satti.
