Aromatic Arachuvita Radish Sambar ( Traditional)

Ingredients to make Aromatic Arachuvita Radish Sambar ( Traditional)

  • Toor Dal / masoor dal cooked 1.5 cups
  • Channa dal 1 Tablespoon
  • Raw rice 1 tablespoon
  • coriander seeds 1 Teaspoon
  • Dry red chillies 4
  • Scraped dry coconut 2 tablespoons
  • ghee 2 tablespoons
  • mustard seeds 1 teaspoon
  • cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  • fenugreek seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  • garlic cloves 10
  • onion medium sized chopped 2
  • Ripe tomatoes big sized finely chopped 2
  • curry leaves 10-12
  • salt 2 teaspoons
  • turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • asafoetida powder 1 teaspoon
  • tamarind ball lemon sized .
  • Cooked dal water 1/2 glass
  • coriander leaves freshly chopped for garnishing

How to make Aromatic Arachuvita Radish Sambar ( Traditional)

  1. Dry roast 1 tablespoon Channa dal , 1 tablespoon raw rice . Transfer to a plate .
  2. Dry roast 1 teaspoon coriander seeds till aroma is released. Transfer to a plate .
  3. Dry roast dry red chillies 4.
  4. Dry roast scraped dry coconut 2 tablespoons.Cool all the ingredients,grind to a coarse powder.
  5. Heat 2 tablespoons ghee in a wok. Crackle mustard seeds , cumin seeds and fenugreek seeds .
  6. Add curry leaves 10, finely chopped 2 medium onions . Sauté till translucent.
  7. Add 10 garlic cloves and sauté for 2 minutes .
  8. Add finely chopped 2 big ripe tomatoes . Sauté till mushy and juicy .
  9. Add 1 teaspoon asafoetida powder.
  10. Add the sliced white radish. Sauté for 2 minutes till the raw smell leaves.
  11. Now add the ground masala powder , 1/2 teaspoon turmeric,. Mix well .
  12. Add the cooked Toor dal along with 1/2 glass water in which dal got cooked.
  13. Pour tamarind extract which is extracted from a lemon sized tamarind ball.
  14. Add salt . Adjust the consistency and allow to boil .
  15. Sambar is boiling for 3 minutes . Switch off . Garnish with coriander leaves .
  16. Traditional Arachuvita Radish Sambar is ready to serve .
