Apple pies are popular among children . Apples supply nutrition . No doubt . But .. Most of these pastries include plain flour which doesn’t sound healthy at all . To make these Apple pies a perfectly healthy snack / breakfast option , I just tried a twist and voila . It came out so well and my darling daughter loved it . So sharing the recipe here confidently .

In a bowl , take 170 grams whole wheat flour .
Add crumbled brown bread slices and knead using finger tips .
Add a tablespoon of fine non roasted semolina .
Add yogurt .
Add salt and cinnamon powder.
Mix all together .
Knead into a smooth dough . Use water only if required.
Cover and rest the dough for 10 minutes in fridge .
Meantime , let’s prepare the Apple filling .
Melt butter in a sauce pan .
Add the chopped apple pieces .
Add the chopped dates .
Add salt .
Add 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder .
In low flame , mix and cook till Apple and dates softens .
Remove from heat and cool completely .
Take the dough .
Make medium sized balls .
Roll into medium thickness sheets .
Place a spoon of apple filling in the centre .
Grease the corners of the sheets with little water .
Fold as shown in the picture .
Seal the edges perfectly so that there will be no leakage .
Gently press the edges using the backside of fork .
Then gently make light cuts on top of the pie .
Heat oil in a wok for deep frying .
Drop these hand pies in the hot oil and fry in medium flame .
Flip and fry both the sides .
Remove the fried pie from the oil . Drain excess oil .
Repeat the process for frying rest of the pies .
Healthy Apple Hand Pies are ready to serve .
