ABOUT Stir fry Chemmeen RECIPE

Chemmeen means prawns, here they are marinated & cooked in coconut oil.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Prawn - 250 gms
  2. Coconut Oil - 2 tbsp
  3. Curry Leaves - Few
  4. To Grind Onions - 5-6 small
  5. Cumin Seeds - 1 Tsp
  6. Red Chilli Powder - 2 tps
  7. Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  8. Fresly Crushed Pepper - 1/2 tsp
  9. Ginger-1"
  10. Garlic 6-7
  11. Lime Juice 1 tsp
  12. Salt - to taste
  13. Water if required to make a paste
  14. Kashmiri chilli powder optional 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Grind onion,ginger & garlic adding Red chilli & Kashmiri chilli powder,turmeric powder,cumin seeds , curry leaves & black pepper to make a smooth paste . In a bowl take clean & washed prawns seasoned with salt ,lime juice & ground paste
  2. Combine all ingredients & marinate prawns for 15-20 min .Heat Coconut oil in a pan and roast marinated prawns in a low-medium heat until its golden brown in colour, remove prawns from pan & add leftover marination in a pan & saute.
  3. Once masala gives a nice aroma add cooked prawns & mix gently in masala.so that prawns coated evenly.Chemmeen Fry is ready to Serve !!

Hi..can I cook this dish in any other oil? I don't like the taste of coconut oil.
