ABOUT Aloo Palak RECIPE

Chopped spinach leaves cooked with potatoes & Indian spices as a semi gravy, served with Roti/rice.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 4 medium size Potatoes
  2. 2 bunches spinach chopped
  3. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  4. 2 onions finely chopped
  5. 1-2 tomatoes chopped or puree
  6. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  7. 1 tsp Red Chilli powder
  8. 1-2 green chillies slit
  9. 1/2 tbsp Coriander Powder
  10. 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  11. 1 1/2 cups Water
  12. Salt to taste
  13. 1/2 tsp Garam masala powder
  14. 1/2 tsp Dry Fenugreek leaves
  15. 1/2 tbsp cream optional
  16. 2 tbsp oil for cooking

Instructions

  1. Wash & peel potatoes Cut them in Cubes.Heat 1 tbsp oil in a heavy bottomed vessel, add potatoes & cook 3/4 th . remove from a pan on a tissue paper & keep aside.Add 1 more tbsp oil then cumin seeds once it crackled.
  2. Add onions and green chillies and sauté the onions till they turn transparent.Add ginger garlic paste and fry further for 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add tomatoes and cook, now add turmeric powder ,red chilli powder and coriander powder and combine well.Add Clean ,wash & rinse spinach and let it cook for 4-5 minutes. Add cooked potato cubes and combine.
  4. Cook on low heat for 7-8 minutes.Add the water and salt and cook on medium heat for 12-15 minutes or till the potatoes are tender. Add Cream, garam masala powder dry fenugreek leaves and combine well.
  5. Reduce flame, cover with a lid and cook for 2-3 minutes. Turn off heat and serve hot with Rotis or steamed rice.

I tried the recipe & it turned out yummy.....I add one more ingredients to it...crushed fresh green coriander seeds
